Multitech modems? Any good?

My brother has a mutlitech external modem he said I could have. Are they any good? I have never heard anyone say anything about them. I was less than pleased with an external USR 56k Sportster I had. I put my Diamond SuprExpress back in but I would like to get away from ISA for future upgrades. Or does anyone have some suggestions on a good hardware modem that wont break my wallet? Thanks for any input.

Multitech modems have been around a long time and have a good reputation. If that modem plugs into the serial port, then it is a hardware modem and will be similar(performance wise) to your Diamond. If you want a cheap pci hardware modem, check out the Intel ham chipset modem offered at mypcmax.com. $11 shipped is hard to beat and my friend has used them in several systems with no problems so far.
