I did a search and didn't find this one. Don't know how hot it is but it looks like a good deal to me.

Call staples and price match NEC 19" Color Monitor Model FE950 to Onvia.com who has it at 410.
Then use the special 40 buck off coupon and the 50 dollar mail in rebate.
Total 320 shipped.

Link to monitor at staples.

I can't decide wether to buy it or not but here are the specs:

Considering NEC doesn't make monitors anymore, it's no suprise you couldn't find it :)

got tired of looking around but for you guys looking for a samsung monitor
Got a samsung 900nf (19inch) at gateway accesories for $370 shipped

actual price is 440
there is a coupon 40 of 400 or something at this store
they have free shipping for purchase over 250 or something
go to samsung site they have a 30 mail in rebate for this monitor
no tax (minnesota)

you can actually get the samsung 19 inch 950 or 955 even cheaper i believe using the same method

Not sure if this is good deal or not like I said got tired of looking all I know is the samsung 900nf is a good monitor and the 955 also has good reviews for even cheaper( (around 320-330)

This monitor is awesome, I have one right now. However, I'm in the process of getting screwed out of a $100 rebate by staples. The rebate says purchased between X and Y, which I did but now Staples is saying I didn't buy it within the guidelines. Any one have any experience with this? Without pricematch, it was $340 delivered w/tax which I thought was a pretty hot deal!

usctpe7, what exactly does Staples say you did wrong to not qualify for the rebate?

So is it really worth spending the extra hundred bucks to get a flat screen? I do webdesign alot but can't decide.

The only way you can decide if flatscreen is worth it is to compare flat to non side by side by yourself. Even if you can't find the exact monitor you're considering, just look at some to get a feel. I was lucky enough to be able to compare a Hitachi 19" to an iiyama 19" before I bought my monitor, and it was no comparison--the fish-bowl-like Hitachi didn't stand a chance to iiyama's phat flat screen. I ended up with a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900u, b/c it had the nicest case design, a solid warranty, and actually ended up costing less than most others. Still, for less than the $700 I paid then, you can buy a 21" flat screen IBM now--unbelievable.

yeup, if you compare them side by side you'll definitely be able to tell the difference. i used to laugh at why people would shell out a whole ton of money just to get a "flat" monitor! the glare is really reduced on the flat screens, and the colors and pictures look really really sharp! i guess i'm a monitor junkie now too, and if you can combine a good case design, solid warranty, and flat screen aperture grille tube, then i'm there! =)

this is still expensive, but it's a good deal! =)

Hey uscpte7,

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. Staples sent me a postcard saying my purchase date was invalid (supposed to be 2/1/01 - 2/10/01), I purchased on 2/12. But the form I sent in said valid purchase 2/1/01 - 2/17/01. I called the number on the card and spoke with customer rep. He gave me the "2/1/01 - 2/10/01" line and I said okay, but my staples rebate form had a 2/17 end date. He said wait a minute, came back and validated my rebate. Be sure to have the card they sent you, since they ask for the code number below the UPC on the card.

Prime example of being sure to keep copies of everything you send in.

:D

I'd only buy flat shadow mask mon.

CSR at staples won't pricematch onvia because they're not offering the rebate and it has to be an exact match.:frown:
