I have a nforce 2 board and i tried to change the multplier, but when i do it wont start up the first 2 times i try then it startsup fine. But the cpu runs at 100 mhz fsb. I've heard that u cant change the multiplier on nforce to boards, is this true? If so is there any way to unlock it?

Thx

depends on your cpu and the board...

most newer xp's are locked.

mobile xp's are unlocked.

if you can raise the Mult in the bios and the system boots then its unlocked, if it will only boot at the default multiplier then it is locked

Sure you can.

It's your chip thats locked. Been that way since week 29 of 2003. The mobile XP's are unlocked though.
