The stock multiplier on my 3400+ NC is 12x of course. I know these aren't great oc'ing chips but I was thinking if it'd be worth it to lower the multiplier to 11x and up the htt, since I have some Geil Platinum PC4000 ram in there, it would probably match the ram better...anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Weird I just checked CPU-Z and it said my ram is running @ 160.8 and 2-4-4-6...mmm...it's set on auto in bios but why is it clocked so low?

You've always been able to decrease (not increase) the multi on non-FX chips ;)

How much of an OC are you expecting.....because I'm at 2.6 now with no prolems on a stock heatsink, ust the temps are a tad high. :) I haven't found the upper limit as I was just looking to see if I could get to 2.6. And all this on 512mb Mushkin value ram.

Some mobos will not clock the RAM over 200 on the 'auto' setting... so they choose a divider to achieve the highest speed that is 200 or less. Are you overclocking now? What speed?

why dont you start with listing out your detailed system specs AND detailed bios settings so we can tell you what to change rather than have us play 20 questions....lol

Ok I'm going to post a link to my bios pictures within the next 5-10mins hopefully waiting for some stupid confirmation email from the site I'm hosting them at.

Thanks

Sorry about that, please help me if you can.

I fixed the memory problem, it's now running 1:1 with the fsb but the memory has really bad timings 2-4-4-7 lol I think kingston value could do better than that. I mean it is pc4000 ram but d43 chips shouldn't be this bad. Question is whether I should alter some other stuff in bios or possibly up the htt and down the multiplier. Thanks again for any help you provide.

oh and your htt multiplier is "LDT/FSB Frequency Ratio"

your cpu multiplier is "CPU/FSB Frequency Ratio"

your fsb is "FSB Bus Frequency"

your "cpu vid control" is your vcore, the "cpu vid special control" is the amount above vcore...for example

CPU VID CONTROL = 1.45
CPU VID SPECIAL CONTROL = 104%
final vcore value = 1.45 * 1.04 = 1.508

Thanks that helped alot lol I know what the stuff is in bios just need to know the settings for it. My question still arises whether doing 11x227 is > 12x208 they only discussed 1/2 clocks they didn't compare full clocks to each other.

Thanks again.

Ok I'll do that, should I up the proc voltage some? since I'd be going from 2400 to 2500 ?

that, my friend, would be overclocking and it all depends on your chip with trial and error testing (prime95)

if you do a manual setting of voltage, you have to take cpu vid special control in account and you cant leave it auto
