multiple wave playing

I have a question about multiple wave playing
abilities. Does the vortex2, mx400, and ymf744 and 754
support multiple wave playing (like playing a wav, and
second one, and a third one simultaneously)?? I've
looked at their specs and the specs do not say
anything about multiple wave playing. What constitutes
the capability of playing multiple waves? It's gotta
be the hardware?? I have an SB128 and it can't do
multiple waves; is there a software/driver method to
make older cards (ie. sb128) do multiple waves?

If the vortex2, mx400, and ymf744/754 all support
multiple waves, which one is recommended? I hear the vortex2 and mx400 drivers have stopped updating, so is the ymf 744 the clear winner? I'm
leaning toward the 744, is there a big downside of the
744 from the others that would make me not buy it?

I know that the SBlive has multiple wave playing, but it's too expensive at around $40. I think the vortex2, mx400, and ymf744 all have 4 speaker output, 3D and all that, but sound quality, just basic wave sound quality, how do they compare with SBlive? How about with SB128?
