Multiple Video Cards

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run two video cards -one PCI, one AGP- on one mobo or am I asking for a headache?
currently have two Hightech Radeon 7000 64mb on Asus A7V600

Yes its possible. Splice the vga cable and attach two connectors and you will get double performance. I did this with a Ti4600 and another Ti4600 I converted to PCI and my performance is on par with a 5950 ultra.

What if the signals didnt mesh together right. Wouldnt that give a distorted image. Plus dont you need some contorl of some sort to guarentee that the image is right when combined

I guess I should have spent a bit (was that a pun?) more time providing you the details.
I have three monitors in extended desktop, all are running at present but I'm not convinced I have a stable O/S yet (Does Windows do that?), and after returning three of these MoBo's to the manufacturer
and some Ram and CD Reader issues too, I guess you could say I'm lookin for clues and/or a tall buiding.

The joke reference was in regards to the post about splicing wires, not you wanting to run dual vid cards.

The simple answer to your question is, yes, you can run multiple video cards under Windows. Microsoft references this on one of there support pages:

http://www.microsoft.com/windo...more/multimonitor.mspx

and there are first hand accounts of doing it as well:

I'm currently using an AGP Radeon AIW for my primary and 32meg TNT PCI for the secondary on two 21" monitors. The TV portion of the AIW only works with the primary display (but the video desktop is cool). The mpeg and DVD players that come with the AIW package also only operate on the primary monitor, but I don't use those anyway (I use powerdvd and sasami or wmp6.4 - all these will play on either display or both).

...sounds like having two ATi cards will make what you want to do fairly simple.

Yeah they seem to work together OK most of the time -I'm just keeping tabs on alot of news and information- but there still seem to be some ghosts in the machine, maybe thats just windows but it has me wondering. I have downloaded the Atitool and Everesthome; will continue exploring (was that another bad play on word?, gawd how the language changes!) later. Must try to get some productivity out of this heap now, thanks for your help; I've added ARS to favourites, looks like a good one to crawl.
