OK guys so here's my situation. I have my Internet connection coming in to my DLink DI-624 (4-port router/switch + wireless AP). That is where I currently have all my routing tables and IP address assignments. Two of the 4 ports are connected to other APs (DLink DWL-2200AP) to extend the range for my wireless network.
Now the problem is that I have at least 6 wired machines that need to connect with only 2 available ports. I have an older Linksys BEFSR41v2 (4-port router/switch) that's just sitting around not doing anything. So I plugged the WAN on the Linksys to one of the available ports on the DLink. I set the DHCP server on the Linksys off (since I want the DLink to hand out IP assignments).
Device IP for DLink: 192.168.0.1
IP Assignment Range: 192.168.0.100 - 192.268.0.110
Device IP for Linksys: 192.168.1.1
IP Assignment Range: None since DHCP is disabled
What I'd like to do is basically use the Linksys to add the additional computers to the network, but I would like them to be given IPs from the DLink and within the range that the DLink specifies. I would also like to see them show up on the DLink's DHCP table.
This is where I'm having problems. The Linksys itself shows up on the DLink DHCP table since it's plugged into the DLink, but the computers connected to the Linksys do not show up. Since DHCP is disabled on the Linksys, the computers don't even show up on the Linksys DHCP table, even tho it is distributing an IP. When I use "ipconfig", it shows my machine as having an IP of 192.168.1.100 when that's not in my desired range.
I know this sounds pretty n00bish, but for some reason I can't figure it out and I'm fairly frustrated at this point. I need to have set IPs so that I can use port forwarding, remote desktop, and other services. I would appreciate any help. Please let me know if you need additional information. Thanks in advance!!!
