Multiple PCs same Source game? [SOLVED]

Is it possible to join the same server as other people in my LAN. I've been trying for weeks but haven't found any good answers one way or the other.

EDIT: I've gotten this to work
EDIT2: If anyone needs me to be more detailed just reply. I'll feel free. I know how frusterating this can be 😛

This person was right, just not very helpful in how this is done:

Well each of my steam accounts were on a different port... so u should set them for different ports.

First, you must set the clientport value of each client to a different number. For my network I used an easy to remember method. Each machine is 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.9. I set their clientports to 27021 to 27029 respectivly.

Then I mapped port forwarding directly in my router.

Steam apparently has knowledge of ghosting because as soon as you die you cannot view other live players screens until all members of the ghosted IP are also dead.

You can set steam launch options to automatically set client ports by right clicking on the game and going to Launch Options. Type:

clientport 27021

Of course replace the number with what you are using.

🙂

You don't know what you're saying. You cannot connect to the same server. Or at least I cant. 4 different logins, no one can join the same server as me. If it works on your LAN please tell me what kind of settings changes and hardware you're using.

Thanks 🙂

well... do they have to be invited by you to get to the particular server? I used to have the problem when I ran WarCraft 3, I couldn't get anyone to join a game with me because of a Error (insert number)

it had to do with the port forwarding in my router. I don't know if that's the particular problem you're having, but judging by the answers you got... I'm sure you're up for anything.

I think there may be an anti-cheat feature in the server programming that restricts the number of users accessing the server from the same IP. This is to prevent "lanning" or "ghosting" -- basically using free-spectator mode while you're dead and shouting information to your lan-mates who are still alive and in the game. I know that some servers will allow multiple users from 1 IP but it will totally black out your spectator view while you're dead.

It seems pretty consistant, maybe I'll try a non-secure server..
