I am thinking about ordering two 2408FPWs but only have a single 8800GTS video card.

Can most fairly recent video cards with two DVI ports drive two high-res monitors? Is there a way to find out what the capabilities are in terms of two monitors?

You'll be fine. I ran my dual monitors off a GTS for some time. Granted, my second monitor was only running 1650x1080 but it's the same deal. Just as long as you don't plan on stretching a game across both monitors, you'll have no issues.

Shouldn't matter as long as you don't put graphics intensive things on both screens as consumer cards don't handle that as well as workstation cards. It'd only be an issue if you were trying to output to 2 30" as g80s only had 1 dual-link dvi.

Don't worry about it. I had a 8800GTS (640, G80) that handled my 2x Acer AL2216Ws for well over two years until I upgraded my video card. If you're running office tasks, you won't be stressing the card that much.
