Really?

I personally find framerates that average around 30fps almost unplayable (because I notice them and get annoyed). If someone's happy to play at 25 fps in order to support the claim that the 570 is sufficient to drive a 2560x1600 monitor at maximum resolution and settings, by all means - be that guy. I'd rather have 45 fps MINS, and don't mind paying a premium so that I actually enjoy my gaming experience.

I fail to see how it's considered FUD to recommend based on personal preferences, as after all that's exactly what the bang for the buck camp try to do (disparage anyone who pays a premium for a non-linear performance increase).

Great comments guys...

I WISH there was somewhere I could go and TEST all this out, unfortunately once you buy the additional card and two other monitors, you are kinda stuck right?

What is newegg's return policy on GPUs?

EDIT**

VGA Standard Return Policy

  • Return for refund within: 30 days
  • Return for replacement within: 30 days
This is our Standard 30-Day Return Policy. Items covered by this policy (those products for which Newegg states "This item may be returned for a replacement or refund within 30 days only") must be returned to Newegg within 30 days of the invoice date for this policy to apply. “Return” constitutes receipt of the product by Newegg, and not the mere issuance of an RMA.

The following conditions are not acceptable for return, and will result in the merchandise you have returned to Newegg being returned to you:

  • Cards exhibiting physical damage
  • Cards that are missing the manufacturer label containing model number, part number or serial number
  • Cards that are missing the manufacturer warranty label
  • Cards returned without all included accessories, bonus games, and documentation
Well I guess I COULD try it out...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I think games start getting smooth after 60+ fps. BC2 @ 100fps seems really smooth and when I could only get 60-70fps in some scenes I could feel it getting a little choppy. I play on a 120hz screen.

I'm also in the club that thinks a 30" needs a gtx 580 minimum. Probably 570 sli minimum really. I game at 1080p and still think my gtx 580 could use a little more power. Once you turn 3d on the gtx 580 @ 1080p turns to a slideshow. I imagine a 30" monitor has that same kind of effect on gpu's.

I'm hoping to snag a 120hz sometime for the middle of my triples setup....I imagine seeing 100fps is pretty awesome

once I get a few things sorted I'm adding a wall mount and putting a 28" hanns g above the triples

So regardless of SIZE, what is the BEST monitor to use for a triple monitor solution, what is going to give you the best picture quality?

For reference, I would be using two GTX 570 OC'd from factory...

best? the dell U series IPS monitors, but they cost a damn fortune

I have ~450 bucks in my triples there, 23.6 hanns g, just dc'd sadly

I missed the 25"s at the same price point when they got dc'd

My local CompUsa still has the 29" for $249...(imagining 3 of those..hmmmmm).

I would have to disagree. Even given an unlimited budget I would still go for TN screens on a gaming machine simply for latency reasons.

I've played on some FPS's ETC 30" dells and not notcied any serious lag

but yes, I agree, for gaming, TN rocks.

he specifically mentioned picture quality, and the Dell does beat the hanns g's on that.

Using eyefinity in with monitors in portrait is a waste of time to me. It will make the bezels too close together and ruin immersiveness, instead of enhancing it.
