Multiple Monitor Mac - Anyway to automatically set external as primary?

My 24" Acer LCD just arrived back from service and I'm trying to see if there is a way to accomplish this.

Preferably, upon connection, I would like the external display to become the primary display and my 13" Macbook LCD to become the secondary display (moving the menubar and dock to the Acer)

I know I can get the Acer as the primary by closing the lid of my macbook, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the Macbook to show up as the secondary. Is it possible?

AHHHH FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!

Under Display in System Preferences, when you go into Arrangement, you can drag the menu bar in the image across to the second LCD to make it primary 🙂

Rock on!

Now I have another question though, when i put my macbook to sleep, then i wake it up with an external monitor connected as the primary, the macbook display stays off until i go and select 'Detect Displays'

Is there a way to auto detect it upon wake from sleep?

i always use detect displays, haven't found another way to do it. i usually open my mbp back up anyway to keep it from overheating, then just detect display when i'm done using my monitor.
