I've been using incarnations Pidgin for almost a decade, it was called Gaim before. I'm very happy with it and it's definitely my default chat client.

I like Pidgin myself. I don't really use that kind of thing much, but it works great when I do. Digsby looks like it has a bunch of nifty features, but none of them are particularly useful to me. It's just bloat for my purposes.

I found the Digsby had the most complete feature set of all programs I've used - AIM, old and new, AIM mods, gaim/pidgin, miranda, Trillian (which was pretty nice, but was rather limited), and more I may be forgetting. plus it has cloud settings. There are a few things I wish it did better, like text chat logs, but for the most part Digsby is the best program I've used.

I used Pidgin as well. I refuse to have AOL-anything installed on my computer, but they use AOL IM accounts for informal / quick business communication at work. :\

While I HATED Trillian, Pidgin is actually quite good.

Digsby, but don't install the crapware, AND turn off the "research module" if you dont want them sucking CPU cycles.
