I wonder what being scared all the time is like. So terrified of life that you must be armed at all times simply to have enough courage to go outside.

Lawfully carrying a handgun is not about being scared to go outside. Lawfully carrying a handguin is about self protection in a very bad moment. My wife and I are alive today because I carry a lawfully licensed handgun. Two career POS felons had their day ruined when they tried to prey upon my wife and myself. They were armed and never expected me to be armed much less well prepared to defend my wife and myself. The look on their faces was priceless. They complied with my demands to surrender their arms to me or die then and there. They both had a long history of violent felonies. Do you suppose they were just going to let us go after having their way with us? Not damn likely. Now I am a ardent believer that if an individual does not want to carry a weapon that is their absolute right on the other hand I resent those who would try to constrain my right to be able to defend for myself. If you expect the police to defend you in a bad moment you are actually depending on either the coroner, EMT's or the mercy of predators. Good luck with that.

I thought people were too scared to rob houses in Texas because the assumption is that everyone in Texas is armed?

Like any other place in America not everyone carries a weapon in Texas. However, on occassion the bad guys here in Texas really screw up an do attempt to prey upon an armed individual. Usually at that time the predator(s) day goes to shite real fast.
