An office I am working for got DSL from TDS.net. They setup a Actiontec DSL Modem/Router. It also has wireless built in. I setup up the wireless with no problems. The range is poor and I would like to extend it. Can I just get a Linksys Access Point and setup it up with the same WEP password and SSID and plug it into the same switch to extend the range? Will the Linksys and the Actiontec work together so users can roam seamlessly? What do I need to watch out for?

Thanks for any input.

There are 3 non overlapping channels for .11b and .11g WLAN's. 1, 6, and 11. If your parent AP uses 6, then use 1 or 11 on the additional AP and so on. Roaming is great in theory but not always a fluid transition. In other words, if your moving around the building, the client may try to hang on to the AP it's associated to rather than hit an AP with a better signal. In theory the client should be scanning for beacons and be smart enough to say hey, this guy is a better fit. In practice it doesn't always work that way but that is how it will be setup for you with multiple AP's.
