although the bose companion sounds very nice in a small room, it is really not worth the extra money, you should consider looking into M-Audio and Klipsch amongst others

I agree. I have heard good things about the Bose companion speakers but it would be best to go listen to a couple different lines and decide if the extra money is worth it to you.

and keep in mind, the sound u hear in the open area of best buy or circuit city isn't the same as the sound you'll hear in your quiet small room...

Which companion set were you looking at? (They have a whole range of options)

And the actual bigger question: what's your budget?

The companion's have gotten some members of AVSforum to say that they sounded quite good.

The link in yoyo's signature deals with the 5.1 HTiB's.

Sry...

My Budget is around $300.

By the way I just read YoYo...'s Article on Bose and Boy I think its quite informative and also clears many things ...like Bose just specifiing the Speaker size in inches and not wattage or RMS value..

Thanxxx

For gaming I'd say Klipsch 5.1 ultra are your best bet.

Possibly Logitec Z-5500 if you want digital connectivity

For music I'd go with Klipsch ifis

bingo, worst sound enviroment around, super open warehouse store with subwoofer on a shelf. can't judge didly squat there.

klipsch..can't go wrong. get the ifi if u can afford it and don't want surround.

These are good options.

For gaming/movies, 5.1 should be a priority. If you can find Klipsch Promedias at that price, that should be a good choice for you.

Also indtram, wattage is kind of something that a lot of companies will put out bogus specs for also, so the whole thing is kind of confusing in general :p
