What do people use? I have dvdshrink (doesnt do divx) and Magic DVD Ripper. It rips a standard DVD in about 20 minutes, is there any application faster than this?

Tried ImToo DVD rip and the latest version has a bug that causes it to only use 1 core. I'm going to try the trial of ConvertXtoDVD now, I've found some good opinions on this one.

I also have DVDShrink and it rips a big DVD (8GB) in about 7 minutes. More than good enough for me.

Ripping DVDs themselves is not very processor intensive. More cores will not help. A faster DVD drive is about the only thing that will help.

Handbrake. If going for X.264, you might want to raise the thread count above your CPU count.

Lol rip= copy raw data off disc.
convert/transcode is what requires cores, ripping is just the drive speed read limited.
handbrake as said, for quality+cores
imtoo cr@p is second rate junk from the early days of ipod when people needed anything to convert sh*t, and lots of "suckers" customers were out there for the picking.
and yes h.264 is the way.

I want a RAID 0 array of Blu Ray players though. :hmm:
