Multi-purpose Gaming Smartphone

What's a good Android Smartphone (not high end) that has good hardware to support gaming? This will be my 1st smartphone and would like something that will be a multi-purpose phone that I can keep for awhile......possibly around a 5" screen and I'm currently with T-Mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy's seem to get good reviews, but I'd like to know what you all have gamed with & suggest or avoid?

I'm not that all interested in the camera, but more concerned about the processor/ram/display/battery life and of course, good versions of Android.

I was just reading up on the Nexus 5 vs. Galaxy S4 and the Nexus has some the better specs on it.......which I do like and yes, I can "swing that" :biggrin:
