Well, topic pretty much says it all. I've have good experience with nvidia and multicard support. (I've been running an 8800GS, a 6600GT, and a 5500pci card all together for a long time now.) But now with the release of the 200 series the drivers for those cards don't show as supporting any other cards, atleast thats whats listed on Nvidia's driver site.

I wanna upgrade to a gtx260 and keep the 8800gs around as a secondary card, but if the drivers don't support both cards I'm SOL. And i'm not about to go by a ~$300 card without knowing if it'll do what I want it to.

So does anyone know about this and know from experience that you can run both a 8xxx card and a 2xx card as a multi-monitor setup?

Thanks

how many monitors do u plan on running? if its 2 then u can just use one card. and both ATI and nvidia support that. ATI better imo. NV, after how many years of SLI? still can't get multi-monitor to work correctly

They may not have released a WHQL set that supports the GTX 200 series and older cards together yet. You can probably either grab a beta release that does or mod the .inf to add back in the older cards. There are some sites online that already do the latter task for you, like LaptopVideo2Go

Well, usually I run 4 monitors, well, 3 and a tv. I recently took out my 5500pci to throw in an old linux box but I still have my 8800GS and 6600GT both pci-e running my monitors. And with nvidia's new physx capable drivers on my dual 8600gt sli machine I can no longer put them in sli mode, but thats a whole other ball of wax.

Thanks aka1nas, I'll look into that.
