I have been using at least 2 monitors at home and work for about 4 years - can't make it without at least 2 monitors now. :D

I've got my Powerbook with an attached monitor and another PC beside it with one montior. Once I get another video card there will be another. My new setup and 24 hours news on the TV behind me is like total information overload.

i've got dual 17" LCDs but i would definitely prefer a single 30" widescreen LCD

I don't understand the allure of using multiple monitors. I have these nifty things called "tabs" on my computer that allow me to have multiple applications running at the same time coupled with the ability to switch between them at will. It's not like having 8 chat windows open will allow you to hold 8 conversations at once more than a single monitor, or having a movie playing on one monitor will allow you to watch a movie and play a video game at the same time.

Having two documents up at the same time makes writing papers much easier. I can read AIM conversation while surfing the web. I can watch a movie on one while surfing/chatting on another. Doing webdesing I can have code in oen monitor and browser view in another.

Still, your eye and mind is only focused on one thing at a time. It just seems so very wasteful to me.

when daytrading, you need access to information quick. even on a 21 inch monitor, you can fit at most 4 to 6 charts.

Id rather move my eyes and head a view centimeters than clicking back and forth with my mouse. PLus I can catch the movie through my peripheral vision even if I'm browsing. All in all, i prefer turning my head to clicking tabs back and forth

Hmm... I guess I'm starting to see your points. I still personally feel it'd be like having a book with larger pages than another. There's less effort in turning pages but you don't really miss anything because you have to read through it all either way.

Maybe I just have trouble focusing on things, that could very well be the problem.

You need a few more monitors. :p

I'm running dual 17" monitors with my rig. My brother just got a 27" LCD for his rig and, wow, that thing is amazingly huge. Perfect to play games on.
