Multi Monitor Display Timing

First of all thanks for reading this. I just recently bought a new 19" monitor. Before, I was using 2 15" monitors in a horizontal span at 1024x768 each.

Now that I have my new monitor I decided I would take the better of my 2 old 15" and run it next to the 19. Obviously 1024x768 doesnt look very good on a 19" monitor so I tried a bunch of different resolutions. I eventually settled on 1280x960. My problem is the other display doesnt run that high, in fact 1024 is about as good as it gets.

I was expecting really bad distortion but I didnt get any. Only when I was looking at a text document did I notice the scan line moving upwards. It's very faint and can only be seen on white backgrounds.

So my question here is, can I do anything about this other than setting the monitors to an equal resolution?

and if not

Will this distortion cause damage to the tube?

btw I am running both screens at 75hz

thanks

Well, I tried something new which somehow works. If you set the monitors to different resolutions then the refresh rates must also be different, and vice versa. Otherwise, you will get distortions. However, if both are different then there appears to be no interference.

Anyone who actually knows something about multi monitors might be able to clear this up for me.
