Muffled audio with Z-2300's

Hi, today I purchased the Logitech Z-2300 speaker system. They are awesome speakers. The sub is amazing, its huge. But the speakers don't seem to be performing like I expected. The audio is sort of muffled. My old set of Altec Lansing speakers sounded clearer then these. I had them for a few years, but the connection to the sub messed up here recently, so it made the audio muffled, and I had to jiggle the cord around to get it to sound good again. But see now these Z-2300's have the same sort of muffling sound as the Altec's did. Ok my computer is a piece of crap, it's a three year old HP, model #310n It has a integrated sound card. That is what im thinking the problem is, but I really don?t know. My old Altec lansings didn't do this.

Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this muffled sound? I dont really want to buy a new sound card if I dont have to, but I'm thinking imah have to.

Hey, welcome to the forums

Those speakers deserve better audio anyway... ditch the onboard and get an Audigy 1 or something - probably found very cheap. IMHO

That is really what I am trying to get away from doing. I do not have a source of income, all I have is birthday money. I really want to find another option, but doesnt look like there is. Anyone have any ideas?

Is there options or settings I can mess with? I have already checked under the sounds and audio icon in control pannel.

Thanks for the post by the way.

I know it sucks to think you might have to save up to spend VERY little money on something even as cheap as a SB Live Value card, but honestly you will have no way of knowing if it is the speakers or your crappy onboard audio that is causing the muffling until you do so...

Very little? Ok I have 50 dollars to spend, and I wont have any more money until next year. I have to spend this wisely, do you see why im so conservative now? I am really trying to avoid buying a sound card if it can be fixed another way. Thank you for the post I guess? I found it a little rude.

Try playing the audio through different players to make sure that it's not just an audio player that has a wacked equalizer. Or connect the speakers to a portable CD player and see if youre getting the same problems. If you didnt get muffled sound through your old speakers it means it may be a conenction issue or something to do with the new speakers.
