Mueller will not indict Trump

That is current DOJ policy. Legally that has not been tested. But since Trump "hasn't done anything" why even ask Mueller?

Oh, you should change how you worded your statement. Sitting Presidents may be immune, but once they are out they can be thrown in prison like anyone else for crimes committed in office.

This is the teddy bear @boomerang clutches at night when he thinks about what Mueller must have found.

I think it’s better for everyone if the process is political rather than judicial, at least while he is in office.

I’m good with this but not in the boomer way.

Let Congress do what it’s supposed to do.
I believe has the rules currently are Muellers report must go to the acting AG and any release of information must come from him.

As Hayabusa has said it’s currently DOJ policy that a sitting president cannot be indicted. That doesn’t mean policy couldn’t change (unlikely but possible) or that States AGs couldn’t file their own charges.

Obviously impeachment must come from Congress.

This is really meaningless but it's telling that Guiliani thinks it's good PR for his base. Even more telling that I think he's right...

His base will love him anyway. What I find curious is Rudy's need to bring this up when he and his side says there's nothing there.

Rudy feels the need to reassure people that Mueller isn't going to indict for something which doesn't exist to begin with.

I wouldn't find that comforting.

Were I the subject of a federal investigation I might be concerned that my attorney is somewhat hearing what he wants to hear. Or it's a concerted PR strategy on the part of him and his client.

It's a pretty sad commentary on how corrupt Trump is when even one of the forum's resident bootlickers is pinning his hopes on a kinda-sorta-maybe statement from Giuliani, a guy who got booted from his law firm for stating that they regularly engaged in shady deals.

In the end I suppose it doesn't matter. I approach Rudy as a person without credibility, but as things stand Trump is immune from Federal prosecution but in theory that can change. There's also the possibility that states could attempt to charge Trump, something more unlikely, but if it were to make it to the SCOTUS we might hear opinions regarding Presidents being absolutely immune from prosecution. That might impact the DOJ's policy, but this is admittedly reaching.

Not really news. I fully expect that with either a democratic house he will be impeached or in 2020 with the new president and DOJ he will be thrown in prison. The writing is pretty clear on the wall that Trump has only survived to this point due to extreme machinations by his party.

There is also the issue of state laws being violated which I am not sure he necessarily is protected from.

Well Mueller and it turns out Rosenstein along with the DOJ agree. This isn't anything new. After Trump is out then he's fair game
Actually that question has never been litigated. Mueller will probably stick to current DOJ policy now. If he finds something egregious he can ask DAG to allow him to indict. If Rosenstein says no he would just present another article for impeachment.
