MUDs

I met a guy in RL that used to play the same MUD as me. We couldn't quite figure out if we were online concurrently, but we knew other characters.

FYI, I don't know the exact relationship, but at least part of LegendsMUD was developed by Raph Koster, who was lead designer for UO and Star Wars Galaxies

Oh, the days of MUDs... I remember going from playing LoRD almost every day to playing MUDs almost immediately after I got online with Netcom way back many eons ago...

Damn, now you just made me feel real old! Screw all of you, I'm going home!

I was a certified Mud Addict back in college and shortly after. Then they all started dying and they weren't as much fun when very few people ever played. Here's the ones I played the most. There were others but I forget their names. Most were LPMuds

Lost Wishes
Gateway
3 Kingdoms
Muddog
LustyMud
Genocide
End of the Line

Used to play a few MUDs a while back. Island, Turf, Castle Perilous, Bluemage and Farside were the "main" ones. I dabbled in a few others.

I'm using it to mess with perl scripting in zmud.

wow I used to play RoD often! around '97-98 or so... Same name too...

Got a nice pair of Goroggles still if my chars haven't autodeleted hehe

Starting around 1995 I played at AustinMUD, Dark Castle and most recently Myrradel. Good times but IMO their run is over.

Played there on and off for 7 years. Recently a friend of mine that I have never met, but knew for those 7 years on there, and talked to often died 🙁

not really if you consider modern MMORGs an extension of the MUD. Graphics, more programming, and more servers, BUT essentially the same thing.

Played on Dead of Night for quite a while, though I only stop in to say hi every now and then at this point.

Been playing Afterhours Mud off and on since 1992
afterhoursmud.com 2000

Used to take 30 minutes or more to get on when I started because you had to wait until somebody quit.

I used to play MUDs pretty often with my wife, starting around 5 years ago. I'd tend to play one for a few weeks and then get bored and stop playing altogether for a few months. Then she'd pique my interest again in a new MUD and I'd play again for a few weeks til I got bored with it again. Went through that several times, haven't played since maybe late fall last year or so. She's still going strong, playing daily.

Most recent one we've played together was .Dimension, a D2 type MUD which was pretty fun. However it's been down for at least a couple months now.

I played Abermud, Diku and LPmud. Sometimes when I play a female character, losers would try to pick me up.

I played Onyx III (Nightmare) MUD from 1995-2000... accumulated almost 2 months of actual playing time according to the stats kept. It died one day and I was at a loss for a LONG time.

I guess ATOT is my newfound daily addiction.
