Plan on working quite a bit and not being home much, I used to work with mud engineers/loggers when I did wireline logging.

If you are married with kids I would not do it unless you really need the money. If you are single and want to make some good cash then go for it.

I kind of miss doing logging sometimes but then I remember the on call schedule and staying up for 2-3 days sometimes and say no thanks.

Well from what my brother told me there would be some days I would be out at the rig for a day or two. It wouldn't be anything for weeks at a time from my understanding.

Well, just do it. You can kick his ass at Christmas and Thanksgiving if it doesn't work out.

Or is this a "sanitation engineer" sort of thing?

I am a Bovine Reproduction Engineer by trade, but in the Winter, I tend to do a lot of Mud Engineering, along with being a Farm Equipment Operating Engineer.
