Muahaha, setup my 18.1" LCD and a 21" Dell Trintron on a GF4 Ti4200. Easy to setup and it works great. Still trying to get used to having two monitors side by side :)

It's nice to be able to open a new link on the other monitor and keep another one open on the default :D

Can you do dual monitors with a Ti200?? I think not :)

3 monitors is a novelty idea. 3 is just ridiculous for the average Joe. 2 monitors is pushing it. The only reason why I went dual is b/c now I have the extra desktop space and I happened to have a 21" laying around.

As for gaming...I have recently discovered EA's F1 2002 demo...good stuff :D

Which TI200 do you have, and how is the 2D quality? I had heard that the ti4200 was lacking 2D compared to the ti4400/4600.

2D is as good as you can get.

One thing I always hate about 2 monitors is when doing 2D and you've spanned the two monitors. All the splash screens and dialogue boxes of stuff get placed right in the middle. I've often thought of having three just for 2D to get away from this annoyance.

nView allows you to control all of that stuff. It lets you take control of all dialog boxes and stuff like that. I have mine custom tailored to pop up dialog boxes on screen 1 and open up new windows (if I choose so) on display 2

I've used dual 19" monitors in the past and found it to be useless. I found it it be a novelty with no real benefits. I do see how it could be very useful for coders and web designers though.

That's some cool setup you got there. How did you get your hand on an nvidia reference card? Is that confidential too?

It comes in handy when I'm doing Web News so I can have all of my news information in one window and the Web News Engine on the other page as I'm typing. Then I copy back and forth between the monitors. It only took me a couple of seconds to get the hang of it and I'm already faster at getting the news done.

It's also quite interesting to have the TV going full blast on one screen and regular desktop stuff on the other.

2 monitors pushing it? Man 2 monitors is a godsend if you do any type of web design, graphics work, or programming. I recently upgraded from a gf2mx to a radeon 8500 and I don't know how I lived without two monitors. Much more productive now. I can surf ATOT while doing my work now.

I've been dual monitoring for about a year and 1 monitor is just not enough anymore. I'm looking forward towards going to 3 and surround gaming too.

I loved dual monitors. Like you said, it's especially nice with a TV tuner card. I liked it for webpage editing too, mostly when using the FrontPage Extensions enabled sites I worked on for awhile. I could have one window open, refreshing the changes, and the other window open, editing the page right on the server. Worked really well.

NFS4, which is better picture quality between your planar lcd and dell's 21" trinitron monitor?

I am in dilemma whether to get planar 18.1 or go with dell 21"

The Planar is DEFINITELY better especially since it's on the DVI port.

I didn't post that message.

Yeah, but one doesn't always want to set it up this way. I agree it's not a huge issue, and it's a little drastic to get a 3rd monitor just to avoid this, but it's annoyance nonetheless. That said, I'd love to go dual at home - only got dual at work at the moment.

You sound like a Matrox Idiot.... :D

Only a little after the party. We (matrox zealots) discovered DH 4 years ago.

Where have you been?

i would love dual or triple monitors. i code C a tiny bit, but i do html and php regularly and it would be great. i already know i would use it because i use virtual desktops (something most windows users never have the joy of experiencing) every single day, and i'd probably die without them. i dont see how anyone can go without them :p

I know what you mean. Have had the same problem. But i fixed it with a little tool, dunno the name anymore. It worked automic, sticking my windows within the black screen....very handy. Never more lost buttons, out of da screen.

Well, the 18.1" Planar is running at 1280x1024 on the DVI port so 2D image quality is perfect as it is completely digital. The 21" is running at 1600x1200 and it looks just great to me. It's no LCD display, but it looks great for a CRT monitor.

To each his own...
