Wow sounds like a jolly good LAN.... NOT!!!

kept to a minimum... we are in a church... we do have younger people around

it's fun every time.. and since you dont want to come you wouldnt ever find out

guess you should try new things instead of just saying they are terrible

That tells me it will most likely be annoying CS kiddies attending

Sorry but our LAN's we like to drink beer, curse, and oh yeah project porn on the big screen.

well.. you have that right

the average age of the attendee is about 23 i would say.. a few older and 1 or 2 younger

your assumption that we are full of CS kiddies is wrong.. it's a majority of College age / college graduate friends that put this show on and bring their friends into the mix for a great time

We dont discourage drinking.. however we do discourage heavy drinking and the fact that no drinking may take place inside the venue

if you would please leave my post and quit trying to bring the venue down without knowing anything we are about and never having attended i'd be very appriciative.. anything else you need to say to me may take place in PM and i can dispell any myths you maybe be able to make up about MTVLAN

so, who from here do you know is going? And is it fine if me and Enfer Singe bring a friend of ours who isint on AT?

This sounds awesome. I wish you guys were having it in Chicago tho. I'm 3hrs from Chitown and 5 1/2 from southern Illiniois.
I'm also 3 hrs from the twin cities if anyone is having a lan there.

It's an open LAN.. everyone is welcome as long as they are willing to abide by the easy to follow rules

and i believe that you and your friends are the only ones from AT that i know of that are coming... not many southern illinois people here i guess

yea.. so we played off of MTV a little... MTV also stands for Mt. Vernon.. which is where we always hold our LANs 😛.... sorry to disappoint 😛

i'd love to.... buy me the plane ticket(both ways) or pay for my rental car and i'll be right there... we can invite 70 of your closest computer nerd friends over and bask in our gigabit backbone with more than 50 full gigabit switch ports 😛

P.S. no offence about the nerd part... i'm one of the biggest one's there is.... i mean gosh.. i am a co-host of LAN parties haha

Damn...I'd be there except I have to be at my wife's cousin's wedding.

Something about she was our maid of honor so now we have to go to her wedding....oh joy!

Have a great time! :frown:

sorry to hear that GimpyOne... no guy likes going to a wedding, not even his own 😛

4 1/2 hours is an hour less than i have to drive the next morning after staying up all night at the LAN party to go to, you guessed it, my cousin's wedding grrrrrrrrr

yeah, still looking like me and a few friends will be there. I need to brush up on my UT skillz...will there be internet at this? or only Lan?

only LAN

we tried internet in the past but too many people were using KaZaA and other DL programs that suck all available bandwidth without knowing it

it made it worthless / pointless to even try to visit google so we decided not to do it anymore.. benefits werent worth the trouble

we pass around official patch disks and host a webpage internally that has all of the patches that we will use for the night

that way everyone is playing with the same patch that is ALMOST always the most updated version

Its bout an hour and a half from where I am gotta think. I have never been to a lanparty and all I ever played was the original UT but that was like 2-3 years ago. Do you guys provide the computers or do we need to bring our own. Coz all I have right now is a real kickass dual p3-733 with a GF2 and 640MB RDRAM 🙁

If you had to pick one game that you expect to be played most, which would it be?

I may just have to make an appearance depending on how some other things play out! 🙂

UT2k4 or Battlefield 1942 : Desert Combat

I only list 2 because the tournament is desert combat but i think UT2k4 will be played more overall

I heard CS source is a bear to figure out whenever there are people who own the game and then those who dont. I havent been following FPS's recently to see whats new but that's becasue i've been pretty busy and havent really had time with graduation and all to be reading the sites about new ones and when they come out

You can still provide an internet connection but with firewalls that won't allow anyone to use 3rd party apps (I.E. Kazaa, etc..). Wouldn't that work?
I wish you good luck guys, but I can't make it. I will sure be missing some great fun 🙁
