MTR: Day one in the books....Seti Goblins leading! :o

I think the names of the teams are inverted. Have we all been sandbagged by the Goblins and the other Stinkin' team with no name? How do they get out of the starting producing nearly a hundred wu's more than their "handicap"?

OTOH, I've got a question about how the stats are being calculated. The Wiz/Team stats page shows me at 394 wu's for the 17th. Why are we only credited with 375?

I know, moaning an' bitchin' already. But I did work hard today to make sure I could produce my average for TTWNN. When one team has so much of its eggs in one basket, that is a heavy load to carry. And I doubt anyone realizes the vagaries of production that my fleet is subjected to. Through forces beyond my control, quite a few of them go down each day, and it is a chore to keep them online. I'm crying in my  .

Anyway, if today's "shortfall" in my production doesn't show up in tomorrow's numbers, I'm going to really wonder how the stats are being determined.

Follow up...

Maybe everybody's numbers are low? I just checked the numbers for the Goblin's to big hitters, and they are higher on the Wiz/TeAm page, too.

So it may make no difference to the standings, but if the race began at midnight GMT, then shouldn't soni's numbers agree with the numbers on the Wiz/TeaM page?

Well, the gloves come off tomorrow. I've got to comb the closets and see if I can find a few more crunchers for TTWNN.

BTW, just to warn the rest of TTWNN, my production goes "silent" over the weekend, and then I do a big dump on Monday. So the first week or two, our totals will really fall behind over the weekend. But as the race progresses, the difference should diminish, and the Monday dump will be like a fresh cup of coffee to start the week. It is all part of my evil plan to lull the other teams into a sense of complacency.

The stats are pulled at different times. As for as sandbagging I know we added 3 machines yesterday with more on the way 😀

...and added to the No Stinkin' Name team as a couple of paltry P3s.. hardly worth mentioning... dunno if they even finished a WU between them yet! 😉

Just wait. It's gonna get nasty 😛

3000+ Barton added today
P4 M 1.6GHz Centrino added yesterday
Dual Operton 240 added within the next two weeks
Dual 2400+ MP added within the next 2 weeks
6 P4HT 2.6GHz added within the next 2 weeks
Dual 2.4GHz Xeon added within the next two weeks

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Add all the P3's you want 😉

Just wondering. Where do you get the money to buy all that stuff 😀.

Pffft...I never said I bought any of it 😉

I also forgot the A64 and possibly another Opteron box from AMD (I'm still waiting to hear back from them).

Thanks Engineer 🙂

I dumped my work machines sunday, went in on my day off, thinking the race started
monday so i'll have an extra day or so worth of wu's. Plus i think my entering ave.
was a little low.

Guys, the difference in stats between SONI's and others is because his stats run at 2AM GMT+2(summertime)

I had posted an update about the start time on the official thread, and I have no control over when the stats run.

Oh dear! :Q

Just what are we poor little Sandbaggers to do? 🙁

Added a Celeron 400 and a Celeron II 800 that will dump once per week or whenever I feel like hooking them up to the LAN. Fear me!

Hah, I'll see your Cely400 and CelyII800 and raise you. I just added an IBM dual PII450 server to the mix last night. So fear ME! 😛

Sorry I didn't read the update to the official thread more carefully.

See, this is really just part of my evil plan. Complain, moan, and generally be ornery, :frown: :| while secretly assimilating new pc's. 😉

Well, I'm not sure how a two hour difference in the start of race actually explains anything. There are still just 24 hours in a day. And with a fleet my size, average hourly production is pretty predictable, so rolling the "day" we are using to compute stats back a couple of hours shouldn't make much difference. I should think this would be true even more for the teams as a whole.

It's NBD in the overall scheme of things. But when we're behind, we have to complain about something. 😛 It's in the constitution somewhere, I think. I think it is the part where it says something like "When in the course of human events, you fall behind in a TeAm Anandtech MTR, you can blame King George, and anyone else you want..." (No, that's the Declaration of Independance. Well, anyway, it is an inalienable right. OTOH, if, during a MTR, a team actually makes contact with ETI, it is their alienable right to automatically declare the race over and claim first prize. :wine: :gift: :wine: )

So I will be watching the stats very carefully.

Hey just checking in from somewhere in the Atlantic. I am out here running away from Hurricane Isabel. Hope things are ok there at home.

Oh yeah I almost forgot to say why I replied, I just added the following computers:

7 PIII 1.0's
5 P4 2.4's
3 PIII 933's

There will more to come. Don't worry be happy the sandbaggers will prevail in the end.😉:Q:beer:

OUCH. :Q Bad for the rest of us in the MTR, but if these are new to TeAm Anandtech as a whole, this is a nice little assimilation that should help in the race to stay ahead of BBR.

I think any skewed numbers can be accredited to the hard work of those teams assimilating as soon as the contest started 🙂 assimilations always throw numbers off.

What I would like to see is how many WU's we as a group of 6 MT produced above our expected production rate due to the contest 🙂

IE 500x6 = 3k a day x 30 days = 90k

but because of competition
600x6 =3.6k a day x 30 days = 108k 🙂

good luck to all the teams!

oh btw, there isnt a mac version for seti is there?
