MSNBC Host: You're A Phony Christian If You Don't Support Obamacare

MSNBC host Ed Schultz has claimed that people are phony Christians if they don't support Obamacare. He claims this law is moral when in fact obamacare actually hurts many people. Real Christians should oppose obamacare because it only hurts everyone and should be replaced by a better system.

Real Christians should support a system which helps everyone by reducing the cost of healthcare.

Ed Schultz once again proves that he prefers to engage in more fear mongering rather than having an actual debate. He is wrong for what he did and it's shameful that he would say something like this.

Do you agree with Ed Schultz or is he once again wrong?

How does Obammacare reduce the cost of health care? That sounds like a pipe dream.

My wife is layed off and does not have health care.

There's nothing affordable about the affordable care act, unless you qualify for Medicaid.

Source: my 2014 premiums.

You realize that premiums have been increasing at a MUCH lower rate than the average of the last few decades in the years after the ACA passed, right?

Due to this publicly available fact, it seems very strange to complain about the ACA's affordability based on insurance premiums. If one WERE to draw conclusions based off of premium data (which wouldn't be a good idea), you would in fact have to draw the opposite conclusion.

That's a typical argument from media ideologues. You can't be against something based on it's merits, you can only be against it if you hate "kittens". Anyone who hates "kittens", must be something wrong with them so their position must be wrong.

That's the play Shultz is engaging in here, while frustrating, that's par for the course and is why he gets paid. His media seat must pay better than congress, otherwise his tactic would have landed him seat to enact governmental policy argued in the same fashion.

I don't know where you're pulling your information from, but my premium increases have accelerated, and my plan pays less.

It's typical of his ilk but this guy has suffered lower ratings to the point where they had to move him to weekends.

How does Obammacare reduce the cost of health care? That sounds like a pipe dream.

It obviously increases it if we look back on anything the government has gotten into and subsidized.

It'll raise the stakes in an attempt to tip the scales in favor of the have nots.

Best you can say about it is that it is a noble endeavor and this time it might be different.

Then maybe his rhetoric will pick up steam. It's the younger crew on MSNBC who is taking over their primetime slots, some of whom are ok in moderate doses.

Most recent National Health Expenditure Projections (January of this year).

http://www.cms.gov/Research-Statist...nalHealthExpendData/Downloads/Proj2011PDF.pdf

Quote of specific relevance to you:
Private health insurance premiums are estimated to have grown 1.8 percent in 2011 (and to have reached $864.4 billion), down from 2.4-percent growth in 2010.

That is a very low rate by historic standards, but premium growth alone should never be used to measure total health expenditures for reasons I hope are obvious. That's why we should look at total health expenditure growth:

In 2011, national health spending is estimated to have reached $2.7 trillion, growing at the same rate of 3.9 percent observed in 2010, which is just slightly above the historically low 2009 growth rate of 3.8 percent.

Now none of this means that the ACA has to be what's causing this slowdown in spending, but as I said before it seems very odd to use historically low cost inflation rates as a reason why the ACA costs MORE.

Ed Schultz doesn't know anything about your obama care. He's been told to shame you all into supporting it no matter how broke and unemployed it makes society.

He made it an hour though before I couldn't listen to him anymore...and that's 55 minutes more than Levin or Hannity! I weep for our nation.

Oh man, listening to Mark Levin is one of my guilty pleasures.

Is he like a Bernanke evil/opposite twin brother?

I listened to Ed Schultz for the first time yesterday for about an hour...he's like Phokus on steroids!

Agree. He reminds me of many of the leftist idiots on here.

This. He should be ashamed of himself for what he is doing since he knows nothing about obamacare.

Why do phony Christians always think they can lecture to others who is or isn't a real Christian?

I've never understood this lame-ass tactic.

These are always the same assholes that get their panties in a wad whenever real Christians ever actually do anything regarding their actual religion- you know, like pray, have a manger scene, read or quote from a bible, whatever...

But then the same assholes turn around and go "You're not a real Christian, unless you support (insert nutty leftwing idea here)." and think that actually carries some sort of weight. It's so lame.

It's only nutty when a leftwing does it? I've seen plenty of nutty right-wingers making statements based on religion.
