MSN Virtual Earth

Google = innovators
Microsoft = copycats with billions of dollars to put innovators out of business (but not google)

hasn't microsoft had a satellite picture site running for several years?

seems like this is just a big update to it.

free = hot?

yes. microsoft had this thing called terraserver or terrasomething for years

Considering it's web-based, it's not bad. Not anywhere near Goggle's tho. I could see you using this one off your PDA.

Yeah just cause Google gets more press for theirs doesn't mean someone else had not tried it before.. Heck I came up with the mapquest idea in 1995..(and I am am sure I was not alone)

Wow their maps are outdated.

I don't think so... there is a new road by me, just built in the last year, which is already on the map.

Most of the MS sat view maps of the D/FW area are 2 to 3 years older than Google. MS overlays the roads from the road map view on the sat view, but the actual road is not in the pic.

Both sites have the same road data for my street, but MS has an actual photo of my house. Google's image on the other hand looks like it was painted with water colors. You cannot tell what in the world you are looking at.

This is not my house but here is an example:

i guess it's cool in that it's web based, so you don't need to download it like google earth

Actually, if you don't want to load the Google app, you can go to:
maps.google.com and get basically the same functionality.
