Incorrect. MS is actually working with third party vendors for continued connectivity. There are certain security issues with older logon protocols that need to be closed, and this is just a part of the long road they call "Trustworthy Computing". BTW, Trillian already has a beta released that supports MSNP8 or later protocols.the point is that no third party programs will work on the MSN messenger network
<chuckle>Incorrect. ThreeDegrees simply utilizes Messenger capabilities...they wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Messenger.think that Microsoft is doing this because a project called Threedegrees
<guffaw>Incorrect. Microsoft has been repeatedly sued...and has lost several times, the biggest judgment was just last week. Take the Consent Decree for SP1 as just one other example.the law is on microsoft's side

The concern might not have been about trillian, but about linux applications not being able to work.
Perhaps I took it out of context. Assuming mee987 actually meant "the law is on every company's side", then you would be correct that Microsoft, AOL and everybody else has the law on their sides when locking down their software/networks.Why would it be against the law for Microsoft to secure their own software/networks?

Why in the world do all of you hate Trillian so much? God....
I hated it until recent versions. Have any of you tried it lately? The interface is not buggy any more, all of the features work, it uses less resources than the 5 clients it supports, is skinnable (even tho I don't use that feature), and is generally a good program. Why do you all have such a problem with it??? Geez...
I do agree that Microsoft has a right to secure their own networks. Even though I would personally upset that Trillian wouldn't work on MSN any more... I would get over it in short order. The network admin part of me makes me wonder why Microsoft had not done this sooner. Hopefully the Trillian company can work with Microsoft to keep their service alive.
