If face book integrates a web cam option then face book is all I'll ever need. The games on face book keep me going like Mafia Wars!

Most of my friends use google chat/gtalk now. I didn't think people actually used the facebook chat application for more than just novelty purposes.

I never understood the appeal of these games. It's basically a big spread sheet

Digsby

Digsby isn't that good. I spent about a month on it and went back to Trillian. The biggest problem with Digsby is that it is terribly slow. I run on a quad core with 4GB of RAM and when I'd click on the text box to type a message and start typing... the thing would just freeze for about a minute from time to time. It seemed to absolutely hate that I'd play a game and want to IM people at the same time.

While Trillian has its own issues (I actually paid for it 🙁), at least it works fine in regard to not bogging down like crazy and doesn't try to hide distributed computing from its users.

LOL. MSN is HUGE in Asia. All my friends overseas talk using that. They go WTF when you say AIM.

The ignorance is strong here. I rarely sign on to MSN, and 98% of the people I talk to are on AIM/Facebook, but in the rest of the world it's flip flopped. It's kinda like the < 5% penetration rate of Symbian OS in the US. People think Nokia is defunct, but Symbian defines 95%+ of the smartphone market in Asia.

ICQ only because the shooter clan i'm in still uses it. Other than that I wouldn't ever use an IM service. Though I love tech - I don't like being perpetually available, eg I don't like cell phones, IM's, or myspace-facebook (for myself anyway).

I used to IRC, but then I stopped. I had an ICQ number, but only because my GF at the time had one too. I still have an AIM account, my friends are all on AIM these days.

My list seems about 50/50. Of course everyone pro runs a multi protocol client anyways.

I've never found a multi protocol client that wasn't a steaming pile of dog shit.

Pidgin. it's relatively lightweight and free.

MSN was always more popular than AIM in the rest of the world. AIM only dominated primarily in North America.

Incorrect. AIM dominated in the United States, ICQ and MSN dominated in Canada.
