MSM vs. MBA

I've heard that there are too many people with MBAs now. Is that true? Has it become the next "bachelor's"? I'm contemplating between doing a Master of Engineering Management rather than a MBA with Real Estate speciality, because i will be working on the construction industry. Thought?

It's a never ending cycle. There is always too much of ***** degrees. Just do what you want and excel at it.

I dont know if an MBA is the next bachelor's or not, but I would think if you are in engineering, it might be more beneficial on the MSM as it is more specified to your particular industry.

From what I read about MBA's, it's a generalist degree(touching a bit of everything), so you dont really get to specialize in any particular field.

msm is far more useful. I am getting a dual degree (Material Science) but also more importantly, Industrial Engineering, which crosses alot with MSM. definitely in demand.

Which is exactly why I did a dual program getting an MS in HRM and an MBA.

You can concentrate in most MBA programs.

idk, i'm just getting the feeling that business majors are going straight into MBA programs because they can't get a job as easily anymore.

If you are going into the construction industry, pleasepleaseplease go spend a summer in the field if you can. Doing anything. Hopefully you are still young enough you can take a summer off from school to go get your hands dirty and see what goes on, good, bad, ugly, smelly and all. If it can be something closely related to a specialty of yours, even better.
