Emailed MSI requesting an RMA on 1/15 got an approval the very same day.

2 weeks might seem like alot but I have had much worse from Asus so I am happy and I really like the ability to check the status online.

Of course I will be getting it today so I dont know what they sent me in return.

They sent me a dead board, packed in an inside out box...no double box , no nothing.

Got my board in Asus' RMA at the moment. They messed up my RMA request though. I put in the request on Friday, was told Id have it by Saturday or Monday at the very latest. Didnt get it on Saturday, waited until late Monday, then called em. They said my RMA request was never made O__o. Neato thing is that they immeadeatly sent me out an RMA number.

Hooray for RMAing a 2.5 year old board. Hooray for 3 year warranties!

MSI is set up to quickly give RMA's, and will even cross ship if you give them a CC# to hold.
It's just too bad that so many of us have to RMA their parts though.

your package has been delieverd, btw!

yeah, under two weeks is really good turn-around time.. but Jan is usually a slow business month, so it's not too surprising.

my ASUS rma took about 3 1/2 weeks but that was with the christmas right in the middle of it..

so what'd you do to your board, that you needed to RMA it? 😉

well, my experience with Epox has not been so good. Bad caps on my 8RDA+, sent my board in on Jan 9th, they received the 13th. No change in status since then. Repeated emails gets me the reply "it takes 5-15 business days to process an RMA". Well tomorrow is business day 15, but the online status is still at "Received" not "In Progress" or "Completed". I will be without my PC for over a month by the time I get it back. All for bad caps. No more EPox for me.

I received it. 🙂

I am off to pick it up @ work now( its my day off and it was delivered there.

if only there were better local computer stores, that way you dont have to bother with this whole RMA procedure... that's what kills me =/

ive never had any msi products but my brother rma'd his TI4200 128MB 8X card after he had it for like 2 years and instead they gave him a 5700. AND YES IT STILL IS AN UPGRADE and it came quickly also. if i actually used msi products it might matter to me

Is that your Neo2 board? There seems to be way too many people having problems with this board. Maybe it's just because so many people have this board yet the percentage is normal though. 😕

Oh I agree, trust me I went thru the lengths to get this one troubleshot correctly.

I eliminated the case for a bench test, tried 2 known good PSUs, had the CPU tested at a local store, basically everything in the PC is known good.

I am sure I spent way more time than the average user would trying to work it out.

Simply put I am asking for my money back.

So here is the deal...I bought this board from a guy in the FS/FT area...it arrived dead and I figured I save him the hassel and just RMA it. Well I did and got another bad board.

BTW I shipped out the board to MSI in its original box and double boxed and they shipped me a new board back in an inside out 648 Max box, taped up and a few peanuts. No double box. Sad really. The mobo probably did leave their facilities in working condition.

Its been like 1.5 months since I bought this CPU/MOBO/RAM combo from this guy and have yet to see a working system out of it.

He is refunding me my shipping costs plus $40 for the board so this is fair enough...hes been very good about it.

I am going to get an Abit or DFI Nforce 2 board instead ...BTW this is going in my Ferrari themed PC. 🙂

I still stand by my original thoughs in that MSI has a fast RMA process , however they could double box the mobos and probably avoid alot of additional RMAs.

Hopefully I never have to RMA my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum ...its been a great board so far.

Glad msi is good. I hate asus with a passion now. My A7N8X Deluxe died, so I sent it in for rma. 8 months later, they sent me an a7n8x non deluxe. Not only did they take 8 months to replace my part, but they also gave me a lower model board.

Yep Asus sucks, I do not ever plan to buy another. I feel your pain.

If I did buy one then Id look at it like buying a mobo with no warranty except the small one from the retailer. Better yet id look into an extended warranty like the one Newegg sells.

Wow, that's total garbage. That's one reason why I tend to buy mobos locally, so that if one plays up on me, I can have the dealer swap it out, same-day service.
