MSI X58 Pro and OCZ Gold 1600Mhz Cl8 3*1 Problem

Do you have any ideas about it ? I set voltage to 1.65 and set ram timing to 8-8-8-24 . i7 920 is in stock speed 2.67ghz. and dram frequency is in 1600mhz. It doesn't boot... My rams are 1600mhz standart and I saw some people use this kit with my mobo without any problem.. I need a quick help.. Spent too much to X58 platform and rams running in 1066mhz.. Disaster for me..
 
Contact MSI for a new BIOS. Alternately try to find it on their site. I've found in the past that they have new BIOSes on their FTP server but not listed publicly. For instance if latest BIOS they have is 140 then copy/paste that link, but substitute a 150 in the link. Sometimes you get lucky. 😉

I've worked extensively with the MSI Eclipse board and some BIOS versions can't run fast RAM to save its life.
 
Nope my bios version the default version. I'm afraid of installing bios(it may crash) because I don't have any idea about how to install/flash bios. If you help me I try. I don't open my pc it makes me feel bad due to this problem.. 🙂
 
Unzip the bios on a freshly formatted flash drive. Go into the motherboard's bios there should be something called m-flash. Locate the bios file and it will do everything by itself. Everything should work fine and you'll eventually have to update the bios on any board. WARNING: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS THAT MAY OCCUR.
 
I've formatted the usb flashdisk and extracted 7.3 into the flashdrive. Then Tried to find the folder in M-Flash but couldn't. Then I copied what my folder includes in the main drive, not using any folder and then it found the bios driver. I chose bios update from M-flash and started to update. It updated Bios to 7.3 right now but when my comp starts it says initializing USB controllers... done bla bla. USB Devices Auto Detecting Sata Ide DVD Devices, USB Mass Storage Devices bal bla..
and under of it it says CMOS Checksum BAD
Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to Load default values and continue.. WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
 
I've successed it I guess. It asked for once and now it doesn't warn for anything.. I pressed to F2 and entered to Windows. then I checked the BIOS version it says v. 7.3 . Thanks for your help. Now I'm gonna try the ram frequency again.

All it means is that since you updated the BIOS you could redo the settings you had before or accept the default settings.

Thanks for the thread, really helped-ed me. Just registered to add that if you are updating the BIOS from the stock to the latest version, make sure you rename the A7522IMS.XXX (whatever it is) to .720, otherwise it won't be recognized.... 😀

EDIT: or to whatever default .extension your board recognizes - my board only recognized .720 pre-flash, now it only recognizes .820. Just rename the latest flash's extension to the extension your current BIOS recognizes and ignore the warnings....
 
Thanks BassAngel. Can you clarify your advice? My board is Bios version 7.3 and I want to change to 8.2. So are you saying that I need to rename the extension of the 8.2 bios file to .730?
 
Check what your version is currently via the handy link above (http://www.msi.com/index.php?f...cat_no=1&prod_no=1744). If you currently run a version of the bios that is .730 you've got to rename the bios that you are going to to the same. Weird feature, but just do it and ignore the error messages it pops up, bang - in business (had to log in as a different user as the uber-arbitrary password system on this board snagged me - mebbe should remember me passwords eh d;^D )

You'll be in the same position I was if you have whacked the latest BIOS onto a USB memory stick and when going to update said BIOS you couldn't find it. Rename the .extension to the current version of your bios and magically it will find it.

Simple answer to your question is yes, rename to your current bios number - A7522IMS.730

And PS the added SLI functionality from doing said upgrade is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!! 😀
