Got this in an email this morning, I assume this is a
4600 w/ 8X capability. I could not find it on MSI's
site since it is down.

If I am not mistaken, the Ti 4200-8x is the 8x version of the Ti 4200, the Ti 4800 is the 4400 8x, and the Ti 4800E (card you saw) is the 8x version of the Ti 4600.

 Well the 4400 is apparently being discontinued and will never see AGP8x form. The 4200-8X 128MB actually has higher clcoks and faster RAM (if the manus follow the spec) so the same could be true with the 'TI4800' being a GF4TI4600 but with higher clocks and better RAM ... or it could be MSI doing the dirty like Gainward have been known to do in the past and simply naming their cards in misleading ways to catch out the less informed.

The Geforce4-Ti4400 is being discontinued? I guess I got mine in the nick of time since it is superior to the GeForce4-Ti4200.:(

4400 and 4600 were discontinued. The 4800 is the 8x replacement for the 4600 and the 4800SE likewise for the 4400. NVIDIA marketing is hee-larious. I cannot wait for the 480 MX SE! And how about a 500 FX MX SE?!

;) I think it's mostly down to ATI's timely releases forcing a narrow price gap between 4200 and 4600 and simply squeezing 4400 out, if you want a GF4TI on a budget 4200 is the way to go and if you can afford a bit more spring for a 4600 (or Rad9500-9700 LOL). I'd imagine 4800 is a last ditch attempt to tempt buyers esp of big-brand pre-built PCs. 4400 is one heck of a card and unlike the 4600 has good o/c'ing potential too, prob another factor for nVidia's apparent dismissal of 4400.
