OK, so I finally got my Pro2-A up and running with my Duron 750. I just got a SuperOrb and am going to try to get the thing up to a Gig Hz. In the meantime though, my old Creative TNT2 won't work in the AGP slot, but a friend's Diamond Viper III Xtreme (S3 Savage 4-based) card does. Anyone know why this is and how I can fix it??? Also, I've installed my Diamond MX300, and though their setup up completes and tells me that the MX300 is installed, when I reboot, the Diamond Utility tells me that the hardware is missing!! Furthermore, short wavs play fine, but when I try to play an MP3 or a movie, the sound disappears!!! This is somewhat like the other sound problems people report with this motherboard, but so far I haven't been able to figure it out. Also, movies play really jerky. I;ve tried the usual stuff, disabled onboard sound, I haven't installed the onboard sound drivers, but still, no luck!!! I would really appreciate any suggestions you guys could lend with these two problems!! (Oh and the sound didn't work even when I didn't have my NIC in the system).

Thanks!

Actually, I believe that there may be an IRQ conflict, considering that when I go to system information and go to IRQs, it lists 6 devices on IRQ 11 (Diamond Stealth III, VIA USB Universal Host Controler, VIA USB Universal Host Controler, RealTek PCI Fast Ethernet NIC, Vortex Multifunction PCI Parent, Aureal Vortex 8830 Audio (WDM)). How do I change the IRQs?????? I tried changing to maunal in the BIOS but it did nothing.

Help!!!

I would suggest not using PCI slot 1(the one next to the AGP slot) and if it is an IRQ conflict, try this IRQ Routing Driver

If that doesnt work make sure you are using the latest NVidia Drivers for your tnt2 NVidia Drivers

Then I would try just booting with your video card, no others. Then add one at a time.

btw what OS are you running?

I run Windows 2000, which is why i haven't installed the IRQ manager thing, but I'll try taking things out of PCI slot one. I've already tried moving my soundcard to three different slots, but nothing works so far. As far as the TNT2 goes, I haven't even been able to post with that card, so drivers won't make much of a differenece I think. Also, can someone give me pointers on how to flash the BIOS??? Is it ok if i use a boot disk made in Windows 98 (you know, with the system files option)??? thanks!

Same thing happened to me. When I inserted the sound card, my system wouldn't even POST. In the Pro2-a board, slots 1, 3 and 5 are shared. try using slot 3, and updating your BIOS. Yes, you can use a W98 boot disk. Sometimes disabling the VGA IRQ will work, but use that as a last resort. Lemme know of the outcome.
