MSI RS 482 Motherboard

Hi,

Need help!!!

Could some one tell me which is the best processor I can use on my MSI RS 482 M4-ILD motherboard. I am currently using AMD 64bit +3500 939 pin processor. When i was buying this the seller told me I could upgrade it to Dual core processor. If so could you please specify or point me to the right direction. I have been planing for a month or 2 to upgrade my processor.

I found the msi website
http://www.msicomputer.com/pro....asp?model=rs482m4-ild

which says :
Supports 3000+, 3200+, 3400+, 3500+, 3800+, 4000+, FX53, FX55 and higher CPU

now which is the higher CPU?? Is it Dual core or quad core????

Thanks in Advance.

I hope you didn't buy that motherboard recently just for the fact that socket 939 is dead and finding processors for it at a reasonable amount is gonna be a bitch with the exception of used processors through eBay or similar. In any case the the maximum that motherboard would support is a dual-core processor, so basically tri-cor and quad-core are out the window. Due to the age of the socket the highest compatible processor that motherboard will support is going to be an FX-60.

In short the only dual-core processors that are going to work (or should) will be:
Amd FX-60
Amd X2 3800+
Amd X2 4200+
Amd X2 4400+
Amd X2 4600+
Amd X2 4800+

Personally, I'd just continue saving the pennies and buying something early next year or wait until 'Windows 7' finally launches.

hmm....think increasing the RAM for the time being should be sufficient for now...

will wait for a while and would shift to quad core processor directly.....any suggestion on the config

thanks in advance

Well, currently the best bang for buck would be on Intel's side. So, with a recent price drop about to come into effect I'd pickup a Q6600 (Which would be about $160-170 USD soon). A p45 motherboard (Asus is my preference), 4GB of ram, and a ATI 4850. If you want something a little more specific I can do that, just need a budget and any preferences (Eg. intel/amd, nvidia/ati, sli/crossfire. Etc).

Fry's has had the q6600 with board for $150 about a month ago. They might run a similar deal on black friday, about 7 weeks from now. If you're traveling around thanksgiving, see if your town has a Fry's. It's sometimes worth it to get up at 2 am and stand in line a few hours for deals. Depends on what you need. They even serve coffee and donuts at some locations.

Back to the original question, dardin211 has an x4200 939 dual core for sale if you're still interested.

@oldie : even if i was intrested.....it would be hard to ship....i am in india 🙁....shipping would murder ma finances....think i would pass 🙂...

@QS : Regarding the budget I was think more like Rs 30,000 (Indian currency) should about $750 (USD). My main aim is to run the current high/medium graphic game....also keeping in mind that i do not have to do major upgrades in the next 2 yrs.
My current rig can run crysis in low+ setting with zero lag.

Thanks in advance.
