Cheapest price I've seen for a brand new retail 1GB 5750, and pretty much makes the 5670 worthless, since they're also selling for $110-$120 for the 1GB version.

Probably going to pull the trigger on this tonight. Have been looking at the Radeon HD 5670, but the cheapest is about $95, and at this price, the HD 5750 seems a safer bet, especially for 1920x1200 (or x1080) gaming. Doesn't seem to use that much more power than the HD 5670 either.

How does this compare, performance-wise, to a 4850?
In Anandtech's Conclusions, they compare the two as follows:
"[The 5750] wins as much as it loses, and overall it’s just as good as the 4850 when it comes to performance. The pricing is no different either, which means you’re paying the same amount of money for a card of similar performance, better features, and better power characteristics. It’s a no-brainer."

Well at stock there 2% faster. But they overclock like a beast.
Mine allready beats a 4870 and 5770 when I clock it to 900 core 1300 memory.

well the thing is people who get the 5770 could clock even higher (probably, not always)...

but yeah for this price, it's a steal

The HD 5750 beats the GeForce 8800 / 9800 GT in almost every benchmark I've seen, usually by 15 to 30 per cent, but sometimes much more (though the latter are essentially theoretical benchmarks, eg almost playable Crysis v unplayable). Depending on the game and resolution, the 5750 can perform better or worse than the old HD 4850.

I am guessing 5750 does better at relatively lower rez with its 128bit but limitation. Does 1600x1200 fit in that 'lower' section? I was under impression people tend to dub anything lower than 1900x1200 'low rez' in terms of gpu requirements and abilities. Not sure where 1600x1200 fits in, though it would be closer to 1900x1200 than it is 1680x1050.

With some overclocking luck, would this be good enough for 1600x1200? Those extra 80 stream cores on 5770 would ahve been nice, but that comes at a substantial jump in price ($160 AR is the lowest @ egg).

GDDR5 FTW. I don't think it is really bandwidth constricted compared to the 4850. They are actually quite close.

I think the 5750 actually has an edge on the bandwidth side of the equation and more OC'ing headroom to boot.

It comes down to $20 and sending in a rebate over the sapphire 4850. I use a 4830 for 1920*1080 gaming and find it very adequate and that would be slower than either of the cards in question.

You can thank the stagnant consoles for lowering the graphical requirements bar ;)

Waiting for either this @ $100 or $200 5830... Bring it on, Fermi! :D

CAUTION: MSI screwed me on a $15 rebate for a 4670 that I bought from New Egg in DEC '08.
New Egg doesn't supply sales receipts which gave MSI an excuse to deny my rebate - even though I included the bar code and invoice.
If the $20 rebate makes this purchase affordable, then I caution you not to buy...

uh oh, now that's a deal breaker. I was on the fence, now I am given a relief of stop worrying about it. Thanks :)

I think it will take a LONG time for the 5830 to hit $200. MSRP will be $239.99 from what I hear, and if it's anything like the 5850 expect demand to be high and the price to rocket up. I'm still seeing 5850's for $340.00 (you suck XFX). I wouldn't be surprised if demand pushes this up to $260.00 or more.

MSI isn't asking for a sales receipt here; it's asking for a computer-generated Invoice with an Order Number -- and not for a Packing Slip. This allows MSI to index sales by the vendor/Order# and probably the Egg (and other accepted vendors) back this up with an order-validation service to the manufacturer.

An Invoice is precisely what the Egg offers on the My Account page. I've a pending rebate on their 4350, and I've no doubt it will be sent.

If still interested in a Radeon HD 5750, punters may wish to consider SuperBiiz: the MSI R5750 costs $145, but there's a $14.50 coupon code ('PLAY10') and the same $20 rebate as Newegg, yielding a final price of $110.49. Free postage. Which makes it about $11.50 cheaper than Newegg.

also 5% BCB @ SuperBiiz. I haven't had any problems stacking bcb w/ coupons there on several orders.

Is this a worth upgrade for my 8800GT? I have an AMD X2 5000 with 667mhz memory. I play crysis wars alot. would probably get this card, then build a new rig (keeping this card) a few months from now.

See the posts directly after no 8. That fellow was asking about the GeForce 9800 GT, and of course the 8800 GT is essentially the same. I don't know if a Radeon HD 5750 would be a great upgrade, as it's somewhat superior to an HD 4850. The 5750 beats the GeForce 8800 GT by about 15-30 per cent in many benchmarks, but in Crysis: Warhead, the difference is much greater. The 5750 is much more energy-efficient though.

If you're planning to migrate a new card to your next build this year, I'd wait. You'll probably want at least a Radeon HD 5770, if not a 5800, for your new Core i5 or Phenom II computer. We all know this isn't a great time for buying graphics, owing to the indifferent chip yields and nVidia's lack of new product. A few months from now, the market should be much more consumer-friendly -- I hope.

is the 5700 series still having major issues with Win 7 drivers? hadn't heard where stable drivers had been developed yet; some patches and work-arounds but...........
