I ordered from Atacom one day, since I live within 1 1/2 hours from there. I placed my order with a credit card and specified Will Call pickup. I called just before I went there and was told I could not use the credit card. I asked, why is that, don't you customarily take credit cards for web orders? Yes, but if you pick it up, it must be cash. Ok, why is that? If we ship it, we mark up the shipping cost to recoup our credit card discount cost. Bah!! Screw them!

hmmmmm,

backordered til the 29th of Nov.

Imagine that........

Oh well..........got my trackin number
and now I'm just wetting myself
waiting to see if it's true.......

As for those who missed it, have
a nice pro2 insted

tick...tick...tick...less than 12 hours until it gets here....it's in a hub just 50 miles south of my place.

I'll let you know tomorrow

No wonder charging 14+ bucks for Ups ground.
Well, at least the price is pretty good at $120, same with k7t pro.
I just hope it's pro2A, not pro-Ata 100.

Bluesky,

The Pro2-A IS ATA100 compliant. Thats why it is called an 'A'. The Pro2 is ATA66/33 compliant.

OD3
That's why I was confused.
I thought k7t pro is coming with 66/33 only, but many vendors are selling k7t pro-100 with ata 100.
I posted a question about it, but nobody answered for that matter.
They are not same board, k7t pro 100 = k7t pro-2A, Are they?

K7T Pro 100 has a PCI ATA100 controller card added in the box, AFAIK
K7T Pro2-A has ATA100 support onbard via the 686B VIA Southbridge.

Well, I'm getting a tad bit ticked at UPS. It is now 4:20 and the damn brown truck has driven by twice...I have half the mind to jump out in front of it and find out what is going on.

Well, I'll let you know when it gets in.

J

IT"S HERE!!! The box and the manual say Pro2-A and the Board says Pro2 version 1. Then there is a little ATA 100 sticker on the southbridge!!! This is so cool. I won't have time to hook it up today, but somtime tomorrow I will post and let you know the haps!

Jimmy

PS...Man those caps are big 🙂

😀 Congrats and keep us posted! 😀

My order which shipped on 11.21.00 vai UPS 3-Day Select is slated to arrive 11.28.00. What's up with that?!?!

I'm dancin fer joy cuz if u got a real 2a,
then that means I might get a real 2a

Guess mine will arrive Fri. maybe or Mon.

shows mine has made it about half way.

did the openlinx mb come with all the cables that are needed? i'm waiting till the 28th when they get more. no one else seems to be selling them

noxipoo.
Actually atacom.com and spartantech.com are selling the board according to pricewatch. I'm not sure about spartantech, but I ordered one from atacom.

Yes, I got an ATA100 Cable, and Pro2-A manual in English, an MSI sticker and the CD driver disk with FuzzyL3, PC Alert and other optimization programs. Last night at about 2:00am, I woke up and couldn't wait any longer....so I tore my old systmen apart and got the case ready for the Pro2-A install today. After I put the turkey in, I plan on slapping it all together.

I'll let you know how smooth the transisition is.

I'm going to start a new thread soon...one for the new owners of the MSI Pro2-A Board...so look for it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

J

I confirmed with atacom and they would ship the board.
It was yesterday. So who knows when with this holiday thing.
By the way, spartantech has the motherboard too, and the price is about same when you consider shipping, 118+13.

And I quote from TweakTown:

Editor Note: Hello TweakTown readers, yesterday Cameron "SOV" Johnson (Head of TweakTown AMD) reviewed the MSI K7T Pro2A, well at least we thought we did. It was brought to our attention by Chris Tom of AMDZone that the MSI K7T Pro2A is in fact a VIA KT133A chipset based motherboard with 266MHz FSB support and we actually only reviewed the MSI K7T Pro2. The reason for this mistake was, MSI sent us a email stating that the board they sent us was a MSI K7T Pro2A when in fact it was a MSI K7T Pro2 and not a Pro2a (with VIA KT133A chipset). We don't blame MSI fully for this error, we should have checked the board model better - This will never happen again, it was only human that it happened in the first place! We would like to extend our apologies to all our readers and also give thanks to Chris Tom for bring this to our attention.

So what's the deal. According to this there are basically two pro2a's!!

Well, I just installed it(Pro2-A) and it is without a doubt a ATA-100. Now, with all the motherboards that MSI is making lately, I can see that maybe that added the 266 mhz to their existing Pro2-A for a demo. It will probably become the Pro3.

Anyway, I have started a new thread for the new owners of the MSI K7T Pro2/Pro2-A or anyone who wants to hear about problems/fixes/status of this new board.

New Owners of MSI Pro2-A

See ya there,

Jimmy

At the MSI TW site the only difference it shows between the Pro2 and Pro2A is that the A supports ATA-100.
Pro2

Pro2A

Pro2 VIA(R) KT133 chipset / VT82C686A Ultra DMA 33 / 66
Pro2A VIA(R) KT133 chipset / VT82C686B Ultra DMA 33 / 66 / 100

Ok, I'm confused now. What is Tweaktown talking about? The MSI TW site does not show a 266 FSB for the PRO2A.

Hey it's back in stock at Openlinx. Atacom also has it. Should I grab it for $129 even though I won't be needing it until the end of next month? Wait for a computer show/ more retailers to stock it? With s&h included, Openlinx comes out to around $137, while Atacom comes out to around $145. What do you guys think? Who has dealt with these companies? Any other companies to recommend?

DC,

if you look at the thread you posted at, you will see several of us bought from OpenLinx and ATAcom and Mwave. I got mine form OpenLinx and although there return policy sacred me alittle, I recieve the board in two days and it was exactly what I bought - A pro2-A So I was very happy with OpenLinx. Yeah, I paid about 135 for the board and shipping....if you wait(2-3 weeks), the board will drop below 120 to take the place of the original Pro. MSI will soon have a higher level DDR board out that will be in the price range of 140-150.

Good luck,

J
