MSI p6n question and problem.

Unfortunately I think my 2nd x16(x8) slot is going bad in my p6n-platinum. Its either the slot going bad or my (tv tuner) has gone bad which is currently in the slot.

I tried moving my video card into 2nd x16 to see if the video card would work in that slot but it did not. I know this because i can remote desktop into the computer and it does not see a video card is installed. Then it dawn on me that maybe you cant run a video card ONLY from the 2nd slot?

Has anything every tried this and if not would someone out there try it for me (stick just one video card in the second x8 slot and see if it'll drive a monitor)? I know thats a huge favor but i'm trying to figure out if the motherboard needs to get RMAed or the tv tuner.

Everything was working fine yesterday and today no soup.

Any ideas out there?

Question: Shouldn't your TV tuner card simply go into a normal PCI slot, and not the second PCI-E (x8) slot?

I have the P6N SLI as well (for triple monitor purposes), and I'm pretty sure the 2nd slot can ONLY be used for SLI. That means no secondary graphics cards going in there and operating even at 4x. It simply won't take them. It's a good board otherwise, but that's part of the reason I'm looking to upgrade to a P35 board.

Damn, Thanks pollock. The tv tuner was working in the x8 and then all the sudden it stopped. Not sure why.
You wouldnt mind trying just running a single card from the x8 slot would you? (I understand this is a huge request)
Just trying to figure out if the slot broke or if the slot doesnt work that way. I just dont understand why the tv tuner was working
and then mysteriously stopped working.

Edeg1: Its a pci-e x1 tuner card (Aver m780).

Actually the FAQ of the website says its a x1(16x) or x8(sli) depending on which way the "flip" card is inserted.
So I guess they contradict themselves. Shocking...
