Msi or Asus for a amd build

Ok so if anyone can add there advice I would greatly apriciate it. I have 2 mb picked out an asus m4a87td evo and a msi 870a-g54. They both are very similar. What I was wondering is one better than the other. As in oc,ease of use, etc. Will put in a x6. So if any of you have one or had one give me some input. The last build I did a few years ago was my first and it was an asus but it did not offer really any oc. Thanks and I look forward to reading your input

m4a87td evo looks good with plenty of voltage regulation but the only thing that bothers me is no mosfet cooling via a heatsink...these amd 6 core has burnt some boards mosfets..i dont think it was this board though..i think it was boards with 4 or 6 regulators...this evo board looks pretty stout...if i was buying this board i honestly would think about putting an aftermarket heatsink on those mosfets...if cost is high enough then you might consider a 890 board...
looking close at the board now a cooler is not going to fit due to a cap being in the way..
reviews are pretty good on this board...kinda up to you but if your going to o/clock i believe i personally would would go with a 890 board..running stock the evo would be fine...do a search to see what guys are saying about running a 6 core on this board....

I am using a MSI 890gx with much success and it performs very well for teh very little cash I paid for it.

Thanks guys for your help. superccs and jadow im sure i know the answer but are you over clocking those and what cpu do you guys have on those

This is good advice. Some boards had issues when OCing due to either poor quality or insufficient VRMs. I have read about MSI being one of the biggest offenders. That is not to say all their boards have these issues, they don't. I think the Asus, installing aftermarket VRM HS, is what I would pick if only those two were my options.

im starting to look at the 890 boards now instead. reading more about them seems to be a better way to go. any real difference in a 890gx v 890fx. And now who to pick asus or gigabyte lol. thanks

also i see the 980 but no 6gb sata or 3.0 usb just wondering if this one whould be better than the 890's and sacrifice the sata and usb.

I would stay away from 980, thats nvivia chipset, unless you need sli support. the FX has IOMMU support for hardware vitrualization in VMs whereas the GX don't. I have heard some say they can sometimes get a little extra OC with FX, but I love the one i got.

I OC'ed a 1055T on stock voltage with turbo enabled to get a FSB of 243Mhz. That gets me 3.4Ghz and 4.0Ghz with turbo. No stability issues at all with a Arctic cooling Freezer.
