Holy sh!t - that is unbelievable!
Btw, I'm all but certain that second PCI-e slot he used was a PCI-e 4X slot, not 1X or 2X like users in that thread speculated.
That was incredible that he got SLI to work on those 6800's, and I'm absolutely baffled the 6600GT's worked since they don't have an external power connector - how the heck did it get enough power off that PCI-e 2X or 4X slot!?!?
Also, as someone said in that thread, how does one even go thinking about sticking a PCI-e 8X/16X card into a 4X slot!? Let alone the fact that it worked, and even worked in SLI!
Interesting makeshift SLI setup, although if I was going to run SLI, I would definately opt for the SLI board with dual 16X slots (that, yes, default to 8X when in SLI mode due to the number of lanes).
