and those specs are . . . .
ok..some guy over at xtremesystems just got at #1 position in futuremark..guess what board he used ? :)

Go at xtremesystems.org and read the AMD forum...lots to read about the dfi. Its highly targetted toward the overclockers/enthusiasts. If you dont OC you probably wont need it.
I wont be overclocking but if the DFI costs same as the MSI board, I will go DFI. I will wait for reviews on both boards though.

Hmmmm, I thought the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum came with onboard SB Live 24-bit sound.

Honestly after ordering this, I don't really see any advantages over the chaintech board in terms of features and I am also assuming speed to.

Someone prove me wrong on this.

Am betting DFI is at least $180 or more for the ultra. Seems like their boards are quite a bit higher. Never owned a DFI but from what I heard their worth the extra price.

Figures. It comes out two days after I bought four A8N SLI's for the builds I've got on the bench. That's the way it always goes though. ;)

Always :p

However, I'm quite happy with my A8N-SLI Dlx. I've never had a more feature filled motherboard, and I have not had the overclocking problems that others seem to be running into.

looks like you can pre-order it for $153 USD.

zzf had it for pre-order as well, but has since taken it down. it shows it listed for $155 though.

hopefully these wont be gouged as bad as everything else has been.

What would i have to do?

I just called customer service and told them I'd just ordeded it, it hadn't shipped yet, they dropped the price--could you please credit my account the difference. All said with a great deal of charm...;)

The other option would be to cancel the order, re-order or buy from ZZF. I've always liked Newegg, but it seems that they're not always the best deal any more. I ended up getting my Athlon 3500+ from ZZF for about $30 less than Newegg.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner...

Best,

you probably dont know about the dfi then ?

Shut up. just shutup...*sniff sniff*.

:(

KAHN!!!!

Man...ah well. I got a good board for a good price. See how it goes. Worst comes to worst, I can just get a new MB but I dont think that's going to be needed. Won't be much of a benefit in the short term anyway.

my only concern with msi motherboards is their reliability and stability. as many have seen with the neo2, their boards are great performers, that is if you didn't get a POS one.

Question: Why did a lot of you buy from newegg when zipzoomfly is $15 cheaper? Is it that ZZF is bad, I just recieved a new retail 3500+ AMD 90nm proc and the box looks like they were playing soccer with it. Needless to say, I will not accept this and I want a new one.

Are most orders from ZZF handled so poorly?

I ordered from Newegg because they had them available first...Bought @ $169...had them lower it to $159 when the price dropped 30 minutes after I placed my order. Bought my 3500+ from ZZF though...your comment is making me cringe. This will be my first purchase from ZZF--i hope i don't have the same problem. Was it the shipping box that was so bad or the AMD box inside?

Hi guys i am a new member and this will be my first post.
I have been thinking of building a new rig last december but
i have read that pci-e is replacing agp. I've researched and
so far i'm going with the nvidia chipset instead of the via.
My question regarding the MSI neo4 is if this board is ready for
the ncq in sata2 configuration because i'm planning to used
two barracudas in raid 0. I think i've read somewhere that
the DFI ultrad can do this but i'm not too sure. And they say
that nvidia nforce 4 is ncq ready? Please confirm if i'm right or
wrong guys...thanks.

I believe even the chaintech nf4 ultra will support ncq and sata2.

I am building a new gaming system and I have had to order quite a few things lately (obviously).

I ordered three of the pieces I needed from Zipzoomfly. Everything with the order went perfectly fine. I was searching for prices so I ended up making three separate orders with them. All three pieces were ordered on Thursday, the 20th, of Jan. The same day I ordered some parts from Newegg.com and Monarch. Again, this was on the same day. On Monday, the 24th, the orders from Newegg and Monarch arrived at my house but I was not home so it was delayed one day.

Anyways, on Tuesday, the orders from Zipzoomfly arrived and everything was packaged decently. Nothing was bent, bashed in, crushed, etc. Plenty of peanuts, wrapping bubbles, etc. So, it took three business days total for the delivery to arrive. Thursday NIGHT to Tuesday morning. So far I'm happy and I will order from them again.

Remember NCQ is part of SATA2 specs and this boards supports 4x SATA2 ports.

The K8N Neo4 is a powerhouse when it comes to features. The new nVidia nForce4 chipset has support for all the bells and whistles like PCI Express and SATA2 which supports data transfer rates up to 3GB/sec along with NVRAID 2.0 that lets you create a RAID using a combination of SATA and IDE drives. If that?s not enough storage for ya, the board also features the Silicon Image 3114 controller allowing you add four more SATA drives. Unfortunately, none of the controllers supports RAID5- it would?ve been awesome if MSI could?ve used the 3214-2 controller instead.

Link.

stop the flaming, n00bs!!

MSI is a good company . . . all companies are bound to have problems . . .

Just look at Asus . . . that's a good company, but lately, the Mobo forum has become the "A8N-SLI problem" forum . .

ZZF bumped the price up to $154.99 now... guess I'll be waiting for the DFI since the prices are the same.

I noticed they look different but hows that possible? Why would MSI have 2 different types of Ultras?

I think the one in ZZF site is a typo and the picture is the wrong one.
If you go to MSI's site there's only one Neo4 nforce4 board.
