Anyone else having issues with the included fan and this bios?

I haven't heard of any others having this issue yet, as most that I know of with this board have been using aftermarket HSF's....

I will try to search other boards for you.....

When I start playing games or otherwise putting stress on the processor my Stock/Retail CPU fan starts making more noise. I haven't really looked into any setting related to it as I don't really mind too much.

Seriously,

This thing sounds like a 747, and its in the antec sonata case - which is supposed to be (and usually is) quiet.

And the fan sees to be running non-stop. Is there a program that can monitor the speed of my cpu fan? So I can check it out?

Thanks

HeyGICodeWarrior, Since you are running all four slots with 1GB dimms, are you actually seeing 4GB? Also, what is the freq of the memory running at? I don't have my X2 installed yet, but with just a winchester (I know the memory controller is the older one) it runs at a pathetic 133mhz.

Right now I see 3.5GB and it is running at 166Mhz I am hoping for a boost to 200Mhz when the final 1.9 or 2.0 bios is released. I am also hoping for a couple hundred more megs of memory too but I am not holding my breath on that one.

I can tell the BIOS to run the memory at 200Mhz and it will still boot, but I am not sure if it recognizes it all. Perhaps I will try that out later...

I'm a bit confused...those bioses say they are for the Neo4, not the Neo2, yet the name would indicate they are for the Neo2.

Can you guys verify they are for the Neo2?

I cannot verify the 1.9b7 bios yet but the link to the website says Neo2 bioses and this particular guy has always had them right....Even the german MSI site says it is for the Neo2...

I can officially say the 1.9b6 works like a charm....unfortunately when you set it to auto it will set board at 1.296v...I have to use 1.5v to get 1.36v actual....I will likley need 1.5v plus 10% vid setting to get near 1.5v actual...my limit....

It's comforting to know there are some nForce3 boards working with the X2 CPUs. I've been meaning to get a Neo2 Platinum and this thread pretty much saved me from a PCI Express Black Hole. Looks like I'll be able to keep my original upgrade plan after all!

So thus far, the only issue is just voltage? The BIOS is setting inccorect CPU voltage than what it says on screen?

Does anybody have any idea why I can't get into any of these 1.9 beta's for the X2? I couldn't get into them when I had an FX-55 running either. I can use any other bios i.e. 1.8, 1.7, 1.6, 1.5 and so on and have the logo screen come up, press the delete key and eventually I'm in the bios. With 1.9 beta's I can't get in the bios's at all. I'll go to a blank screen with a blinking cursor after a normal bootup with the logo displayed, then the detected array screen. I've used 3 different keyboards with p/s2. I've cleared the CMOS with the battery removed several times. I've flashed older bios's then tried to flash to the 1.9 beta's and still no luck in actually being able to get into the bios. Any help would be appreciated. I have no idea why I can get into every bios, but these 1.9 beta's. It really doesn't make a lot of sense and it's very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Are you using the mods or tyhe basic ones....I have now tried 1.9b7r2 and 1.9b8....I like the first one better....They have all worked fine except for the first time I placed the X2 on bord it wouldn't initialize my video even though I had already had the 1.9b6 bios preinstalled for about a week....I had to pop out battery for a brief moment and then it started fione and have not looked back...

Hey Duvie,

I've only tried the basic, non-modded ones. I've tried all of them. 1.95, 1.96, 1.97, and 1.98. I tried the modded ones for 1.95 and 1.96, but that didn't make any difference. Cleared the cmos and pulled the battery.

Just installed my x2 4400+ on the 1.98b bios and it works flawlessly. I think my memory is running at ddr400, 2T with 3GB ram using 4 dimm slots. Also I noticed that the vcore says that it is running at 1.25-1.28v. using msi corecenter. That seems pretty low.

It appears to work though cpu_z and a64tweaker do not recognize it correctly...the only reason I knew it worked was that my sandra score shot up a 100-150mb...I am doing

234x11=2574mhz 1.47v w/ 216(433ddr ratio)......

unfortunately logic says that (216/200)=1.08/11(multi) = 10.18....round up and it is back to 11 so at this point it is no better then 1:1....

I will try 233 which should give me a 515ddr.....

Ok, I figured out my problem. It has to do with us freaks that use prometia's and vapo chill. There's a temperature problem that won't allow us delete into the bios. I found a modded bios (1.96) with all options and no cpu temperature. Works like a champ now. Thanks for the help anyways guys.

What a great thread. I've been following this for weeks now and we're up to 1.98b. Jeez. I think I'm gonna be getting a 4400+ in a week or two but it's sure fun to keep track of what's going on - particularly the off-on again BIOS options. I also really like to see new members getting involved.

Keep it up guys!

Duvie you rock.

I have a slight concern. My cpu heatsink (xp-90) with a vantec tornado not running at full fan speed is NOT hot/warm to the touch. When i run 2 instances of prime 95 with different affinities, with small FFTs, there feels like no heat is getting to the heatsink. MSI corecenter says 51C at max. Is there a problem? I am running 1.26-1.29V at 2400Mhz. I have the x2 4400+.
