I was trying to help a buddy with his computer. I've spent 5 hrs trying to fixed it. Everytime it boot, said no bios is install. So i used the used the msi update software to install the bios. when it restart, computer tell me that the cmos setting is incorrect and i have to restore to the old bios. what am i doing wrong?

specs:
mobo: msi 865PE Neo2-FIS2R (MS-6728 V.1)
CPU: Celeron D processor

First problem is the fact that you spent 5 hrs working on a Celeron based system.

Did you short the pins for CMOS on the MB?

cmos pins? i don't know? anyway to check

mobo manual, should be a 3 pin jumper somewhere on the mobo, I think mines labelled like JP13 or something.

Anyway, it should be near the CMOS if you cant find the manual(manual should be online)

and you just take the jumper and put it on the 2 pins not already used, wait 15 seconds, then replace the jumper again, and restart pc, BIOS should be reset, or you might have to reinstall it from there.
