The main difference from the Platinum is the chipset, it uses the K8T800 PRO while the K8N Platinum uses the nForce3 Ultra.

The MSI K8T Neo2-F is a solid board. If you're going to overclock the ABIT AV8 and ASUS A8V usually reach a higher HTT.

well this is for a friend's comp and he will be doing absolutely no overclocking so would you recommend this as a good board?

I have one in my wifes machine and it works just fine. Running a 3000+ and with the bios flash it runs like a champ.
