I was removing the stock athlon 64 HSF from the MSI k8T Neo-FSR motherboard but the thermal bond was so strong that I ended up ripping the cpu from the socket as well along with the heatsink and fan. I thought the little bar on the side was supposed to lock the cpu in place??!!! Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I did the same thing. Actually did it twice. I've encountered no problems no from yanking the cpu out. And it seems that the thermal stuff is very strong.

Next time get the system to operating temperature that softens the pad and it removes easier.
