Well, had to RMA the Abit AV8 for the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, and when I try it, it won't boot the monitor, just like the Abit AV8.. The DLED is orange, red, red, orange (its not in the manual...). I've tried reseating, and I am trying 1 stick of ram instead. my specs are my signature.. but please help me...

Check out building frustration below you. He's had some of the same problems with a similar setup. Try the cardboard trick.

Yo Swylen, I tried the cardboard trick... it still doesn't work... Did I short something out or something? Or is it defective and I have to RMA again?

Hi,

As I discovered in "Building Frustrations" I had to go buy fiberwashers and make sure that each screw going through the mb to the case haaad on on it. Also, I found that the power supply can be another possible issue. For some reason not all power supplies work well with these higher end motherboards.

I have the Antec TrueControl 550W.

Feel free to read through the other post and see if anything I've have suffered through helps.

As for the cardboard test... I had to remove everything from the case, set it up on cardboard, and connect only the following components:
motherboard
power supply
video card
memory
CPU

for some reason it worked!

The I pieced together the components inside the case and with the basics above and the fiberwashers it came on.

Now I am working on getting the BIOS updated as I assume you will have to do as well.

good luck

Mmm... I'm trying the battery trick now, but going to leave it off all night... I took the mobo out of the case and stuck it in the box from which it came from, so now my case is a chassis with 2 HDD's, 1 optical drive, and 1 floppy drive. But, I came across something in the manual... If you turn on the AC during the time you reset the CMOS header, it will (so they say) damage your motherboard... Is that what I did??? >.<

Oh yeah, FYI, Orange is not a color in the DLED... so Orange Red Red Orange is NOT a DLED light thing...

Are you using a PS2 keyboard or mouse? I've seen a few posts about these boards having a bad PS2 port and causing posting problems. Try a USB keyboard and mouse.

You can try disconnecting any case fans that plug into your MB. Sometimes they cause a boot problem.
So I assume you've been clearing your CMOS like a madman.

Mmm... well... the DLED process is working, so that's a good sign... but... no signal to the monitor, so it always stays in sleep mode. He says put the mobo in the case and it should work... Is that true?
