What is the best memory for my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum w/ a AMD 64 FX-55 cpu.

I want buy Crucial, either the PC3200 or the PC4000 both in the Ballistix line.

Crucial told me the PC4000 would run better because its faster memory even thought it has looser timings.

MSI says the PC3200 with tighter timings will perform faster.

I'm not shure who is right. Can anybody shed some light on this?

not sure about the answer, but if youre asking crucial which ram you should buy then they're going to tell you the more expensive one.. and can't a 3200 ram with 2-2-2-5 timings be oc'ed to the pc4000 loose timings anyway

dont know crucial well, but i do know that you will not be able to oc the pc3200 better than pc4000. ddr400 is rated to run at or below 400mhz while ddr500 will be able to accept faster bus speeds up to 250mhz and maybe a little more at the timings it's rated for. i can't get my ddr400 past 213 without adding voltage and agp lock. what i don't know is if you can tighten the timings with ddr500 underclocked or utilized. with an fx-55 you are obligated, you have to oc and pc4000 will allow you to do that. since you have integrated fsb/memory controller, and i know very little about the A64's, take my advice as a grain of rice. i only know memory in terms of socket A applications. hope i help at least some.

Yeah, that's what I figured when I ordered my memory for my K8N Neo2 Platinum. I ordered the Corsair TWINX 3200XL PRO series. Its designed for 2-2-2-5 timings at 3200 speeds, but if you want to overclock you can set the timings slower and should be able to get to 4000 speeds. We'll see what happens when I get my system up and running (should receive the parts next week).
