MSI K8N Neo2 Plat/AMD 64 3000 +3.3V problem

G'day all,

I have the above mobo and cpu. MSI core center utility is continously giving me alarms because the +3.3V supply is showing between 2.91 - 2.93V on the core centre. In the bios it shows between 2.86 - 2.88V.

On bootup, the +3.3V shows just over 3V but progressively drops, but no lower than 2.9V.

Anyone experience this with the above combo?

Thanks,
Andrew.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
AMD 64 3000+ cpu w/ stock Heatsink
512MB DDR400 RAM
300W P4 Power Supply

P.S. I read somewhere that the power supply affects the 3.3V line. Maybe this is my problem??

G'day,

Well, I had a 420W P4 power supply sitting in the car (don't ask me why! 🙂 so I popped it in and the +3.3V line now reads 3.31V. But, now the +12V line fluctuates between 11.78 - 11.86V in my BIOS and core center util. It never gets to or over 12V.

Specs on 420W power supply are:

+3.3V 28A
+5V 32A
+12V 17A
-5V 0.5A
-12V 0.5A
+5VSB 2.5A

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Andrew.

The 12v line seem to be low on Amperage. Nowadays you really should look for something in the mid 20's.
